Family Survey

School Development Surveys are conducted annually to gather feedback from students, staff, and parents/guardians to inform the school development process. The survey results will be provided to your child’s school and used with other data to identify the school’s strengths and challenges. Your child’s school will then create and implement a plan to build on successes and address areas of challenge.

The survey is anonymous, which means that we cannot connect your survey responses to you. We encourage everyone to participate so that we have the most accurate representation of family perceptions at your school.

Family Movie Night

On Monday, May 28 at 6:30pm, families are invited to our school gym to watch a movie. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. You can bring a sleeping bag, blanket or even a camp chair.  You’re welcome to bring along a small snack as well, but if bringing a drink please bring water or a juice box.  (No pop).  Keep school food allergies in mind as well. We hope to see you there.

Wear Red & White on June 1

On Friday, June 1 our students will show support to the Heart and Stroke Foundation by wearing red and/or white to school.  Students are also asked to bring along a loonie or toonie, if possible, to support this worthy cause as well.

St. John’s Minor Baseball – School Tournaments

We have 5 teams registered for the upcoming school baseball tournaments – Grade 3, Grade 4, Grade 5, Grade 6 & Grade 7!  Coaches will be in touch with parents/guardians regarding practice times and tournament information after they meet next week.

Steve Phillips Classic:  May 22-24 — Grade 3 & 4

Geoff Walsh Tournament: June 7-10 — Grade 5 & 6

Junior High Tournament: May 31-June 3 — Grade 7

Inside Out for Autism

On Friday, April 13 we will participate in Inside Out day. Students and staff are encouraged to support the Austism Society by donating a loonie or toonie and showing their awareness, understanding and acceptance by wearing their shirt inside out on that day.  Thank you to our grade 6 leadership group who have taken the lead in promoting this worthwhile cause at CHE.

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is April 15 – 21, 2018. A big thank you goes out to all our school volunteers this year! We plan on recognizing our fantastic volunteers on Wednesday, April 18 at 9:00am with some student performances and a reception. Volunteers assist schools by coaching sport teams, helping out it the kiss & ride, sitting on school council, helping out in the library and much more.  If you volunteered at our school in any way this year we hope to see you there.

School Lunch Association Radiothon

The School Lunch Association is holding their 1st Annual Radiothon on Thursday, April 26 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Avalon Mall.  Cowan Heights Elementary is one of the many schools who avail of the hot lunch program provided by SLA. CHE will show our support by donating all money collected through our Spring concert ticket sales this year.

If you are not purchasing a ticket to the Spring concert but would still like to make a donation, please send it along to the office on or before April 25 and we will include it with our donation from concert ticket sales.  Please ensure you send it along in a envelope clearly marked ‘School Lunch Radiothon’.   In addition, the School Lunch Association is registered charity, so you can donate any time at
