On Friday, October 20 students across the province will be wearing their pajamas to school in support of the Janeway. Our school is participating and students are asked to donate a loonie or toonie to this worthwhile cause.
SLA November lunch menus went home last week. Tuesday, October 17 is the deadline to return November envelopes. SLA does NOT accept late orders. Please make note not to order on our November 1 PD day or on November 30, as there will be an early dismissal for Parent-Teacher Interviews.
On Wednesday evening, November 22, 2017, families and friends are invited to come out to Chapters to show their support for our literacy initiatives here at Cowan Heights Elementary. Our school will receive a Chapter’s gift card for 20% of the pre-tax amount of every transaction that identifies itself as part of our fundraiser. Keep this date in mind for your Christmas shopping!
Photo proofs and ordering information went home with students on Tuesday, October 10. The deadline to return photo orders to your child’s teacher is Wednesday, October 18. You also have the option of ordering online at mylifetouch.ca.
Retakes will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 25, 2017.
We are collecting non-perishable food items for the Community Food Sharing Association from October 2 – 5, 2017. Representatives from Metrobus and VOCM will be picking up our donations early Thursday afternoon. If you are able to donate any non-perishable food items, your child can bring them to their classroom any time before October 5. On behalf of the Community Food Sharing Association, thank you!
All iwalk ballots received by Friday October 27 will be submitted in a prize draw. The winner from our school will have the opportunity to meet the Mayor, attend the City of St. John’s Council Meeting on November 6 and receive an iwalk-iwheel prize pack. Our school will also be entered in a school participation prize draw at the November 6 Council Meeting for a chance to win $500.
Just a reminder of our upcoming PD days on Friday, October 6 and Thursday, October 19. We now have confirmation of the third PD day for this school year on Wednesday, November 1. We will have two more days in the new year to be confirmed at a later date.
